HOW DO IV DRIPS WORK?

Intravenous (IV) fluid drips deliver a combination of saline solution, vitamins, and electrolytes through a small catheter and tubing directly into the bloodstream. The ingredients in individual IV formulas are specifically blended to address a variety of health and wellness needs.

During therapy, an appropriately registered and qualified nurse inserts an IV line into the patient’s vein. This IV line is attached to a bag of saline solution. The bag is then hung above the patient’s head. IV therapy bags are designed to let gravity, as opposed to a syringe or other forced technique, carry fluid into the veins over time lasting from 20 to 45 minutes depending on the patient.

What’s in an IV Formula?

IV formulas contain a combination of ingredients designed to treat specific conditions or health targets. Our proprietary IV infusion blends contain essential fluids, electrolytes, vitamins, and antioxidants. Each IV therapy treatment is designed to contain the optimal balance of vitamins, antioxidants and medications to provide a wide range of health benefits which have three basic components:

  • Saline solution: A sterile mixture of sodium chloride and water that hydrates the body and facilitates the delivery of medication and vitamins.

  • Vitamins: Organic nutrients such as vitamins and antioxidants that the body uses to maintain normal function, and which must be obtained from an outside source such as food, drink, or an IV.

  • Medications: Some of the Exuberance IV formulas contain medications which are diluted into the saline solution to help improve nausea or relieve pain. Select IV add-ons can also be added to formulas to boost your energy levels, support a healthy metabolism for weight loss, and more.

Why Choose IV Therapy over Oral Treatment Options?

Oral supplements and medications have lower bioavailability than IV drips because they must first pass through the digestive system, where they are metabolized before reaching one’s bloodstream. In addition, age, activity level, illness, malabsorption issues, stress, and previous gastrointestinal surgery can also influence how well one’s body can absorb supplements and medications.

The ingredients in IV drips, meanwhile, are 100% absorbed by the body because they are administered directly into the bloodstream. Each person’s body uses the maximum amount of what it needs and excretes the rest for maximum effect. Since IV drips are delivered into your bloodstream, the ingredients become immediately available to cells, greatly decreasing the time it takes for a medication or supplement to take effect.

Because IV treatments are administered directly into the bloodstream, they circumvent the digestive system. IV treatments are ideal for individuals who have difficulty ingesting fluids or medication due to nausea or illness. Similarly, IV therapy can benefit individuals with malabsorption issues, helping ensure that medication, fluids, and vitamins are accessible to cells.
